Lemonade Stands for Summer

Lemonade Stands for Summer!

Every Summer as the weather warms up my kids are anxious to get out and sell lemonade in our neighborhood. We do it every year with all the kids in the neighborhood. I also love this idea because I can build in a little work ethic lesson into it (and the kids don't even know it...I'm so sneaky!). They learn the importance of buying products, earning a small profit, and saving for something they really want or need.

Here's a story I found about little girls' who wanted to be able to earn money for dance lessons. Their parents were having a hard time affording dance lessons, so the girls' learned how you have to work to earn privileges. Here's the post called Lemonade for a Cause.

So....I am currently building my own lemonade stand and am using some of these favorites for my inspiration. I can't wait to finish it!!! I'll post pictures of it as soon as it's finished!

This Vintage Lemonade Stand was found on Liluna.com. It is one of my most favorite lemonade stands I've seen yet! Who wouldn't want to buy some lemonade from the lucky kids at this lemonade stand?!?!?

This premade lemonade stand is perfect for Summer and is good for girls and boys. I found this one on Booptey Lu's Etsy Shop

Here's another adorable stand with a really cute ruffled table cover I saw at Scatterd Thoughts of a Crafty Mom's blog.
Here's a link to this pretty little Lemonade printable

If you're handy (or have a handy hubby) there is a COMPLETE tutorial found HERE!

Here's my girls' with last year's Lemonade Stand! I wish I had taken better pictures....still nothing close to as cute as the stands I keep seeing floating around on Pinterest!
This year I'm determined to make an AWESOME one!!!

Breakfast at Tiffany's Bridal Shower Banner

I was recently contacted by a woman in New York, New York to help her create 4 banners for a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" bridal shower. This theme is inspired by Tiffany & Co. and Audrey Hepburn's role in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Well, I've been working on them and here they are finally done!
I really love the colors and the theme is adorable!!!

Growing Girl's Bedroom Part 2-Turquoise Dresser Makeover Done

Ta-Da Here's our dresser ALL complete!

Here's a color swatch of the color we ended up going with.
We found it at Home Depot and it's the Behr Disney paints in a color called
"Timeless Tales."

Rylinn picked it out ALL by herself! And I have to say I'm in LOVE with this color!!! It's a little aqua, a little bit turquoise and it has sort of a minty feel to it. It really is the perfect shade because it's still bold enough to make a statement yet subtle and soft too. It's a perfect balance if you're a little afraid to use too much color. You really can't mess it up hahaa!

Here it is in all its glory "BEFORE"

"During"
The dresser was completely sanded down, then painted with 3-4 coats of Kilz primer. Finally, it was finished off with 2 coats of Behr Paint in the Disney custom color "Timeless Tales"

These are the original handles from the 30s-40s time period! Isn't it beautiful?!?!

Growing Girl's Bedroom Part 2-Turquoise Dresser Makeover Sneak Peek!

My mom and step-dad had this amazing and beautiful antique dresser they decided to give to Rylinn for her room. Furniture from the 30s and 40s amazes me because even after all these years it is so sturdy and strong. Not to mention the attention to detail that was taken on it. It was a really dark brown color to start....I think I have a before picture of it somewhere??? When I find it I'll post it.

I saw the dresser below on the Remodelaholic Blog and knew this is what we were going for. Rylinn is soooo excited and her FAVORITE color is turquoise!

Here's a look at what I would like our final dresser to look like:

My mom and step-dad were kind enough to sand the ENTIRE dresser and drawers.....they also painted 4 coats of primer on it (Thank you Mom and Steve!!! We owe you BIG time).

Here are some pictures of it after the sanding process was complete:

Here are pictures of the dresser with primer. The final prep work is done and now it's time to make the magic happen!
